Travis Announce New Single, Album and UK Tour
Having scored a No. 1 on the indie singles chart with their limited edition J Smith EP, Travis are pleased to announce the release of a new single Something Anything on September 15th, followed by a 12 date UK tour in the lead up to the release of their new album Ode To J. Smith on September 29th.
Something Anything sees Travis mine a seam of tough beat led grooves and guitar licks, landing someplace between the breakthrough stomp of Good Feeling and garage band of All I Wanna Do Is Rock. For the video, the band team up once more with Michael Baldwin – who directed all the videos for The Boy With No Name – and take Andy's driving guitar riff as the centre piece for a video that sees a 10ft tall Andy tearing into a solo that leaves the rest of the band suitably awestruck.
The single will be released on the band's very own Red Telephone Box label and will be available on 7”, CD and as a download. Additional tracks include a cover of The Kinks classic Lola and two new songs all unavailable elsewhere. Track listings are as follows:
Something Anything CD / Digital download:
01: Something Anything
02: Tail Of The Tiger
03: Used To Belong
Something Anything 7” Vinyl:
A: Something Anything
B: Lola

THE NEW ALBUM
Ode To J Smith is Travis’s loudest, edgiest and most arresting record since their debut. Written in 5 weeks and recorded in just 14 days, it’s the sound of a band re-born, re-inspired and re-energised.
“we wanted this record to have some rough edges. In the past we might have been guilty of making really beautiful things that were so smooth you almost slipped off them. You can’t say that about this one. We really pushed ourselves. It’s like prog-pop; lots happening in about three minutes” - Dougie.
Ode to J. Smith will be released on Sept 29th with full details to be announced shortly.
Red Blooded Women - Virgin Media's One's To Watch!
Virgin Media's feature on the up and coming girl groups, featuring Red Blooded Women
"Name: Red Blooded Women
Who: Signed to UK indie label Planet Clique, this feisty trio claim to have thrown out the rule book to make pop that's "a little bit awkward and edgy".
Sounds like: Eighties electro-pop with one eye firmly on the club dancefloor and a whiff of real credibility.
Listen out for: Colour Me Dirty - just like fellow Brits The Saturdays, they've had a go at sampling Yazoo (Don't Go)."

Digitonal "Save Your Light For Darker Days" New Noise Review
Great review for Digitonal's album from New Noise;
"To some the subtle nuances will be missed as it will appear very samey and merely an experience in multiple tracks performing the same function. To others it will be a beautiful array of ambience, classical ideals, symphonic arrangements and a reworking of the electronica style that will bring new life into a scene crammed full of pretenders who offer little else but formulaic rehashes of what has gone before yet screams out for a hefty slice of something pushing towards originality.
Whether listened to in the background or the foreground this is aural pleasure par excellence. At times lush and sublime, and at others intense and enveloping."

Eric Prydz "Pjanoo"
Download 25th August, In Shops 1st September
Data Records 200th release
• Playlisted at Radio 1, Kiss, Capital and Galaxy over 2 months before release
• One of the hottest pre-release singles of 2008.
• Pete Tong’s ‘Essential New Tune’ - Zane Lowe’s ‘Single Of The Week’ - Jo Whiley’s ‘Record Of The Week’.
• Cool Cuts No.1 - Buzz Chart No.1
As one of the most feted dance artists of the decade, Eric Prydz has achieved immense critical and commercial acclaim. A household name with No.1 and No.2 UK hit singles under his belt, Prydz simultaneously turns out bleeding-edge house and techno for the world’s most respected dancefloors. Each release is an event; ‘Pjanoo’ is his next single, and we’re guessing you’ll have heard it by now…
As with every record that bears his name, ‘Pjanoo’, and its beautiful piano–led hook, first spread through the clubs and blogs like a virus. It was playlisted at Radio 1, Kiss, Capital and Galaxy over 2 months before release, and is currently one of the hottest pre-release singles of 2008. Plaudits to date include: Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune, Zane Lowe’s Single Of The Week, Record Of The Week for Jo Whiley, and numerous others.
His last single on Data, the ubiquitous ‘Proper Education’, had the official blessing of Pink Floyd; it became the soundtrack to a million dancefloors and took up residency on national daytime radio, while the video and its on-point eco message attracted newspaper headlines and primetime video slots alike. Greenpeace has also used it as part of their global campaign for the past year. ‘Pjanoo’ now looks set to continue what’s been an unrivalled run of landmark dance records.
Though he’s one of the world’s most respected DJ/producers, Brixton-based Prydz isn’t bothered by fame or chart hits (he’s never pursued a record deal or sent in a demo). Well-known for his independent ethos he’s turned the very notion of the ‘underground’ on its head. His three labels PRYDA, PRYDA FRIENDS and Mouseville are positively brimming with sought-after cuts, and between them spawn worldwide club smashes, new talent, and harder-edged techno alike.
Remixes come from Fred Falke, Guy J, and Afterlife.

Velvet Featured As Headline on The Sun Online
"Sexy snaps from Swede singer
IF these sizzling snaps don’t brighten up your weekend, I’m not sure what will.
Swedish beauty VELVET has outsold her fellow sexy chart-topper SEPTEMBER in their Scandinavian homeland - and it’s easy to see why after jam-packing her video with a host of gorgeous models.
In fact, her original vid had to be re-edited to tone it down, as it was deemed too risqué for daytime TV.
Velvet has already notched up several hits, including Deja vu, Mi Amore and Don't Stop Movin', while her debut album Finally has cemented her status as Sweden's pop-queen.
Her current track Fix Me is already a summer anthem over in Spanish and Greek clubs and is now one of the most requested tracks in UK clubland.
And judging by her blonde locks and top-notch figure, it's easy to see why.
The single is out digitally on August 11 and hits shops on August 18"

The Sun : Rappers Egged During Filming
"BAD reviews, being booed onstage and having water bottles thrown at you are pretty soul-destroying for any musician.
But two stars suffered the consequences of a hateful crowd after being EGGED.
DJ Q, from BBC's 1Xtra, and MC BONEZ were filming the video for their latest single in the East End of London when a local gang rocked up and started pelting everyone with eggs.
The kids wanted them 'off their turf' because 'they didn't have their permission' to be there.
But to add insult to injury, after the twosome had finished shooting and moved onto their next location, another group of tearaways did exactly the same.
The musicians soldiered on and eventually went inside to finish filming.
When they emerged a couple of hours later the road, and one of the crew who bravely stayed outside to act as security, were covered in eggs.
It had got so out of hand that a local resident had called the police.
The coppers turned up, but without any solid evidence of who threw what they were powerless to do anything.
However they did make one arrest - the resident who called them in the first place, who got irate that nothing could be done to stop the kids.
The single You Wot! is out this week"

Red Blooded Women Featured on Popjustice Homepage
"Red Blooded Women are releasing their first single next month - it's 'You Made Your Bed', which we featured as a Song Of The Day a few months ago.
The really quite amazing Rochelle have done a really quite amazing remix. There are some other remixes as well but we have lost the CD and are therefore unable to fill you in on how amazing they are.
To go with the single release Red Blooded Women have made their first video. Well, it's sort of their first - they made one but it was shit so they made another one for £300 and it turned out to be a lot better.
This is what it looks like.
We sat in a pub recently and had a chat with the girls about this and that. Our findings were:
1. They are nice.
2. They are funny.
3. One of them is - and this is not a phrase we throw around often - literally cock crazy. Actually demented.
The End."

Basshunter "I Was Bullied For My Tourette's : The Sun
Basshunter has given an interview with the BBC Chart Blog (see below) which has now been picked up by The Sun Online about how he suffers from Tourette's, how he was bullied at school, and how he now deals with it.
"NUTTY JONAS ALTBERG has spilled the beans on how he beat the bullies who picked on him because of his Tourette's.
The mouthy Eurotrasher, known as Basshunter, has finally controlled his illness and gets to have the last laugh by bedding beautiful women.
His rising success will have the school teasers squirming in their seats, especially as he looks set to knock COLDPLAY off the top spot this week.
The barmy star has clearly developed a new confidence, donning a Borat mankini to celebrate his last No. 1 and promising to bungee jump in a pink bunny suit for his next chart-topping tune.
He said: "I did have a really rough time at school. There was a lot of bullying. I didn't have many friends and spent a lot of time alone.
"I've learned how to take control over it. You could spend a week with me, 24/7 and not know I have it.
"I've learned how to feel when it's coming and push it back... and that took years of training."
Jonas added: "Don't see it as a problem, see it as a challenge."
Research doctors from around the world have even been in touch with the Swede to find out how he overcame his disability, with the hope of using Jonas' methods to help their patients."

BBC Chartblog "A Serious Interview With Basshunter About Tourette's Syndrome"
"There's not a lot I can add to this interview, except to say it has entirely changed my opinion of the man doing the talking.
It's with Jonas Altberg, the hell-raising dance-monster we all know as Basshunter, and it's about how he overcame the debilitating effects of Tourette's Syndrome, and took control of his life to such an astonishing degree that people in a similar situation now come to him for tips.
Give it a listen..."

Vevlet Featured On Electroqueer
"As we head into the "silly summer season" of music, we are reminded once again that the Swedes are still churning out their power hits and the battle for the beautiful blonde pop starlets goes into full gladiator mode. It's a familiar story but one I welcome with open arms.
Enter Velvet. She's a beauty to behold and is bringing her "Gorgeous George Mix" of power hit "Fix Me" to the UK shores on July 21st and claims that she really gave September a run for her money back in Sweden. Whatevs - I really like this song and I don't really care who had the bigger hit or the blonder hair. "Fix Me" is the perfect summer silliness and I'm sure we'll be seeing it on The Box and those other teenage chart video shows (that I can't help but watch on a Sunday) very soon. "Fix Me" is the perfect 4.5 minute package and I'm loving it.
More Velvet if you're interested...and check out "Fix Me" below in High Quality YouTubage. I'm curious about her album too...time to get searching on the interweb..."

Digital Spy Interview Basshunter
You tend to do your own vocals, but is there anyone you'd like to work with on the second album?
"Everyone wants to do a song with Madonna of course, and I do want to do one with her, but I don't think that will happen. I don't think she would want to do it with such a crazy guy like me."
You're too crazy for Madonna?
"We wouldn't need to be the in the studio together, but if we were that would probably end up in a... She's married though. I can just imagine how the music video would work out and I don't even want to think about that!"
Anyone else?
"Maybe Amy Winehouse. That would be really, really cool. I think that she's the female version of me, but in a more calm way."
So you're wilder than Amy Winehouse?
"I think she's more polite. I mean literally just ten minutes ago I farted in front of a whole load of people including a few girls. I haven't really found out how the English girls work yet, but so far I've realised they don't find farting so funny. If you fart in front of some Swedish girls they would probably laugh their brains out. If you say, 'Oh no, I think I've just s**t myself and left a Schumacher mark in my bloody underpants', they will probably laugh a bit more. I think I need to start behaving myself a little bit."

"Goodbye Mankini, hello to bungee jumping in a pink bunny costume"
"NUTTY chart-topper BASSHUNTER has vowed to bungee jump in a pink bunny costume if he beats DIZZEE RASCAL to No 1 in the charts this weekend.
The Eurotrasher, real name Jonas Altberg, promised to pose in a BORAT-style mankini if his single Now You’re Gone stayed at the top for four weeks - and he's a man of his word.
The Swede is head-to-head with the British rapper in the mid-week charts, with tracks All I Ever Wanted and Dance Wiv Me battling it out for glory.
Jonas said: "I told a fan I'd do the jump when, not if, I get to No 1. I just need to find somewhere to do it... maybe Big Ben."
