The Sun : Roll Deep Take Control With Alesha

THEY'VE already hit the top of the charts twice this year. So ROLL DEEP will be hoping for a third No1 with their new single Take Control. And Bizarre has the brilliant video for the song exclusively.

The grime crew have teamed up with garage star-turned-pop singer ALESHA DIXON and it makes for a great match up.
News of the lads working with the former MIS-TEEQ star was announced via Twitter with the crew asking fans to guess who they would be teaming up with.

Roll Deep member TARGET told me: "Everyone was thinking we were gonna be working with THE SATURDAYS after The Sun's story about us hanging out with them in Chinawhite.

"We already had the song recorded, we just needed to find somebody to vocal it. We thought a lot about who we were going to approach and Alesha seemed like a really good idea. We've known her since her Mis-Teeq days, and she was great to work with"

The slick new video sees them hanging out in an underground car park, speeding around on quads. And, of course, getting up close and personal with some hot ladies. The lads popped in to Sun HQ last week to record an exclusive acoustic session for Bizarre. You can check it out very soon, so make sure you stay tuned to my website.
Take Control is released on October 31 and the album Winner Stays On is out on November 8.

Digital Spy : Duck Sauce is "deliriously catchy, endlessly danceable"

If you've come up with a club cut with chart crossover potential, and you're only going to slap two actual words over the instrumental, you may as well make those words the name of a superstar, right? And so Duck Sauce - a.k.a DJ duo A-Trak and Armand Van Helden - have titled this Boney M-sampling monster after the Oscar-winning, Grammy-grabbing, Tony-nabbing... OK, enough ego massage for now.

What's more, 'Barbra Streisand' actually kinda suits the track, a sassy, no-messin' disco-house dazzler which tips its trilby in the direction of Studio 54 circa 1979 - happily enough, just when Babs was having her own dancefloor moment with 'The Main Event' / 'Fight' and 'No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)'. Lack of lyrics notwithstanding, it's deliriously catchy, endlessly danceable and ultimately so uplifting that it could even cheer you up after watching the denouement of The Way We Were. Well, almost.

Talk To Angels "Enemies Closer"

Bradford's Talk To Angels release their new single "Enemies Closer" on the 18th October - a track ready to explode into your senses with neon fuzzy, synth-laden epic alt-pop, bursting with hooks, harmonies and hyperactive guitars.

Talk To Angels unite the coolest of indie kids, the scruffiest of metal-heads and the sassiest of pop princesses as one, and were invited to perform at last year's South by Southwest festival and undertook a debut tour of the US straight afterwards. The jaunt resulted in a dramatic conclusion after their last gig when one of the band met with a car running a red light, leaving him with serious injuries and a band stranded far from home. But a crushing alloy bumper would never be enough to keep these young troopers down for long...

Three quarters of Talk to Angels were born in Bradford 21 years ago. Craig Kaye (vocals/guitar) Chris Robbins (bass) and Jamie Lofthouse (drums) have known each other pretty much all their lives, forming the band at the tender age of 15.

A couple of years ago, they cleverly negotiated some free studio time with Mickey Dale the keyboard player from Embrace in return for clearing out his basement (you know the usual - lawnmower, Christmas decorations, car parts) so he could physically get a studio in there.

Mickey agreed to engineer new tracks from the three noiseniks. Mickey turned on the mixing desk, sat back and was promptly blown away by the sheer quality and velocity exploding from the speakers and announced right there he was joining the band!

Talk To Angels write vivid songs about guilt, pleasure and pain. Bittersweet laments about life, lost love and murderous intentions driven by incendiary passion. The lads deliver a sound that makes boys dance and girls weak at the knees.

"Enemies Closer" will be available to buy from 18th October.

Kanye West and Pharrell Williams both make cameo appearances in the video for Duck Sauce's new single 'Barbra Streisand'.

The video, which can be watched below, also includes appearances from Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig, Santigold and Todd Terry.

The guest stars can be seen singing along to the track's lyrics in the video, which was shot in New York.
There is also an appearance from a Barbra Streisand impersonator, who describes the city as "the place of opportunities".

Duck Sauce, better known as producer A-Trak and DJ Armand Van Helden, release 'Barbra Streisand' on October 10.

The song, which was a hit on dancefloors of Ibiza this summer, is the duo's first release since signing to 3 beat Records.

The Dirty Disco BBC Introducing The South

The Dirty Disco were invited to do a live session for BBC Introducing The South by Phil Jackson - and they did it with their usual style, doing four tracks, the first track they recorded "Retrosexual", an amazing version of "Storyteller", the last single "White Room" and a stunning rare acoustic version of "Sista!".

It's been nearly a year since we heard from Duck Sauce, the DJ superduo of A-Trak and Armand Van Helden, who released their debut single "aNYway" last fall. Now, A-Trak and Armand have returned with a new single, "Barbra Streisand", set to drop October 12 via Fool's Gold (that's the unfuckingbelievable cover art above).

The 'Last Ones Standing' singer said he's surprised by the amount of female underwear that gets thrown at him during performances, but has perfected the art of sending it back into the crowd.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I had a 34DD bra thrown on stage last night. While I was performing a song, I'm quite capable of reading and rapping at the same time, and then getting the bra and throwing it back into the crowd.

"I don't keep them, or I'd probably have enough to build a house out of bras. But I don't think that means I'm a sex symbol does it?"

"I haven't had any little bras thrown at me yet. Which surprised me a bit, because I would expect more little bras - the girls with big bras need more support than the girls with little bras.

"But quite the opposite happens."

Example was speaking ahead of tomorrow's 'Arthur's Day' celebrations, which mark the signing of the lease on St. James's Gate, in Dublin, Ireland, by Guinness beer's founder, Arthur Guinness, 250 years ago.

Parties are being held around the world, and Example is part of a huge bill in the country's capital which also includes Westlife, Manic Street Preachers, The Script, Brandon Flowers and Flo Rida.

Example - real name Elliot John Gleave - also added he loves the crowds in the country, saying: "I've played in Ireland eight times this year, and I played Dublin last night, and they're a good crowd there, pretty loony - which I mean in the nicest possible day."

Rishi Rich helped to get your foot into the door and he’s been associated with major mainstream names such as Craig David, Britney Spears, Ricky Martin and Mary J Blige. How has your journey been with Rishi and where do see it headed in the future?
Mumzy Stranger: My journey with Rishi has been amazing since the beginning; it’s crazy to think that I am working with such a talented producer who has worked with so many great mainstream artists. He has been a great mentor to me and has taught me so much over the past few years and I can only see our journey going further up!

You produced your new single Fly With Me entirely alone, where did you get your inspiration for the new track ‘Fly With Me’?
Mumzy Stranger: The inspiration came from pure imagination rather than reality, I just wanted to write a song that makes people feel good and just be free away from problems that’s why I wrote “Fly With Me” as the title speaks for itself.

What do you want to achieve from your music?
Mumzy Stranger: For it to be listened to and enjoyed by the public!

What has been your most memorable musical highlight so far?
Mumzy Stranger: Oh there’s been so many! For this year it would be receiving the Best Asian Urban Act at the Brit Asia Awards as it was my first award that I have won so far. Also being one of the few Asian acts to perform ever on the National lottery with Preeya Kalidas was a great experience!

2010 has been undeniably the year of Example. The man whose mum calls him Elliot Gleave has owned the Summer season with every festival, party and holiday bouncing to his tunes including Popdash anthem ‘Kickstarts’. in the week he released his new single ‘’, we caught up with him to chat all about his amazing year, his plans for a new album and just why it is he said Jedward were ‘shit’ and Alexandra Burke is ‘terrible’.

PopDash: How would you describe the past year in the life of Example?
Example: It’s been a bit of a circus really. Non-stop madness from one day to the next. It’s been non-stop touring, festivals, I’ve released four singles and I’m releasing another at Christmas then starting work on my next album so I’ve never stopped really. I’ve had no time to reflect at all.

PD: Have you got a holiday planned for when it’s all over?
E: My next day off is on Christmas Day.

PD: What’s been your highlight of everything so far?
E: The festivals have been amazing. Playing to that many people and everyone enjoying it and coming up and saying how good it was afterwards is pretty incredible. When I wrote ‘Kickstarts’ I knew it was a potential hit but for it to stay in the Top 20 for fourteen weeks was incredible. That’s probably my highlight actually, having that sort of song of the Summer. People come up to me and tell me it’s their Summer anthem, or it’s their holiday romance song and that’s just amazing.

PD: Do you feel accepted by the world of pop or do you feel like a bit of an outsider?
E: Well obviously my first album came out on Mike Skinner’s label and it wasn’t a pop album. It got a bit of radio play but it didn’t chart highly and didn’t sell all that well but now I’m selling the amount of albums pop stars sell. Having said that I don’t feel like a pop star as much because I’m not working with the same writer and producers those people do and I don’t perform or act like them, I’m quite outspoken too. Everyone else is too safe, I speak my mind and nobody else will do that because they’re too scared.

PD: Do you regret anything you’ve said about people in the past?
E: Not really. I think people expect people in the public eye to have no opinion on what’s going on around them. If you go to your local pub or hang around with your friends I guarantee there will be people there who’ll tell you Jedward are shit or that the new Alexandra Burke single is rubbish yet when I say it people chastise me on the internet and say I shouldn’t be so rude. Quite frankly I think if other people aren’t going to say things then I will.

PD: Why do you think pop stars are scared to have opinions or be outspoken?
E: I think it’s because they’re not in control if their own careers. They have a lot of people making decisions for them, they have people writing their songs and styling them and creating their artwork. It’s all done for them. I do everything myself so it doesn’t matter if I slate people as long as I keep delivering big songs.

Radio One Newsbeat : Example Working With Snow Patrol

Example has revealed he has been writing material for his forthcoming third album with Snow Patrol.

"I like co-writes but I'm very selective about who I work with," he told Newsbeat.

Example is a "massive fan" of the northern Irish rockers, he said.

The rapper revealed he'd also like to collaborate with Kasabian, "one of my all-time favourites."

'Grunge' direction
Example, who released his second album Won't Go Quietly in June, has already written 6 or 7 track for his third album which he anticipates he'll complete in January for a summer 2011 release.

"With this next album I'm trying to apply grunge sentiments and lyrics to dance music," he said.

"Hopefully I'll come out with a massive trance record or dupstep record with a vocal that Kurt Cobain or Pearl Jam would be proud of.

"Nobody else is doing that. I want to get away from this typical electro pop tag."

Preliminary titles for new songs include Shot Yourself In The Foot Again, Under The Influence, Lying To Yourself and Change The Way You Kiss Me.

"It's all very personal," admits Example. "All about messed up love. There's no such thing as a perfect relationship - all love is messed up."

The producer, singer and songwriter also revealed he recently rejected the chance to feature on a new track with girl-group The Saturdays.

"I don't really work with people I don't know. Had I been mates with them then I might have worked with them," he said.

"If you just call me up and say, 'Do you want to do a feature on this girl band's or boy band's song?' If I don't know them from Adam I'm not doing it. It's nothing personal."

The Sun : Roll Deep Team Up With Alesha

"ROLL DEEP have drummed up a great special guest on their next single. The chart-topping grime crew, who are nominated for Best UK act at this year's MOBOs, have teamed up with ALESHA DIXON on new song Take Control.

Alesha has a long association with the UK's underground music scene having scored several hits with her old garage group MIS-TEEQ. She recently returned to the fray with comeback track Drummer Boy. Now one of the country's most popular pop singers, she has lent her vocals to the crew for the new track which they hope will follow both recent singles, Good Times and Green Light, to the top spot.

Roll Deep member TARGET told me: "Everyone was thinking we were gonna be working with THE SATURDAYS after The Sun's story last week.

"We already had the song recorded, we just needed to find somebody to vocal it. We thought a lot about who we were going to approach and Alesha seemed like a really good idea. We've known her since her Mis-Teeq days, and she was great to work with."

Target explained that the new song fits in with the last two releases, with all three together telling a story.

He said: "It's a similar tempo and vibe to the last two tracks.Good Times is like finishing work, ready for a night out. Green Light is when you're in the club and you spot and girl, then Take Control is what happens after. It's like the last part of the trilogy"

The lads will be hoping for a hat trick of number ones with this new single.

With Alesha on board they'll definitely Take Control of the charts... Take Control will be debuted on Target's 1Xtra show tonight at 7pm.

The song is released on October 31 with album Winner Stays On released November 1"
